Day 1 – Arrive Tashkent
Today you will be greeted by your guide at your hotel. You will then be given a sightseeing tour in Tashkent with visits to the Khast Imam Complex, Chorsu Bazaar and Kukeldash Madrasah. You will also visit the new parts of the city, including Mustakillik Square, the Museum of Applied Arts, Alisher Navoi Theatre and Square, and the Amir Temur Monument. Overnight in Tashkent.
Day 2 – Tashkent / Urgench / Khiva
Today you will catch an early morning flight from Tashkent, arriving in Urgench at 08:40. From here you will be transferred to the friendly Silk Road town of Khiva for a sightseeing tour. In the evening, we will visit a local family run cafe to watch a traditional bread making process. You will then have the pleasure of eating this delicious bread with your dinner! Overnight in Khiva.
Day 3 – Khiva / Ayaz Kala / Toprak Kala / Khiva
After breakfast, take a 1.5-hour drive to the Khorezmian ruins of Ayaz Kala and Toprak Kala, dating back to between the 1st and 7th centuries, to learn about the original town of the Khorezmian region. Afterwards, you will be taken back to Khiva where you will have the afternoon free. Overnight in Khiva.
Day 4 – Khiva / Bukhara
After breakfast you will begin the long drive through the Kyzylkum Desert to reach Bukhara (approx. 8 hours), stopping for lunch along the way. Overnight in Bukhara.
Day 5 – Bukhara
After breakfast you will spend the day sightseeing in Bukhara. Highlights will include The Samanids Mausoleum, Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum, Kalyan Mosque and Minaret, Miri-Arab Madrassah, Chor-Minor Madrassah, Modari-Khan Madrassah, Lyabi-Hauz Architectural Complex, and the Ark Fortress. Overnight in Bukhara.
Day 6 – Bukhara / Yangikazgan
Today you will be transferred to the town of Yangikazgan, located in the Kyzyklkum Desert, stopping in Chashma on the way. This evening you will have dinner by the fire and spend the night in a traditional Yurt Camp.
Day 7 – Yangikazgan / Samarkand
You will begin your day at Aydarkul Lake, where you will be given the opportunity to go on an easy hike around the lake or swimming (weather permitting). You will then be given a picnic lunch atop a hill with great views of the lake before continuing the journey to Samarkand, where you will spend the night. In the evening, you’ll visit the Khovrenko Winery to learn about this ancient vineyard and do a wine tasting!
Day 8 – Samarkand
After breakfast, begin your days sightseeing tour of Samarkand. Highlights include Registan Square, Guri-Amir Complex, Bibikhanum Mosque, Siyob local bazaar, Shah-I-Zinda, Ulugbek Observatory and the Afrosiab Musuem of the ancient town. In the afternoon, we’ll make a visit to a local paper mill to discover ancient methods of paper making. Overnight in Samarkand.
Day 9 – Samarkand / Tashkent
You will have the morning to further explore Samarkand before being transferred back to Tashkent in the afternoon. Overnight in Tashkent.
Day 10 – Depart Tashkent

Clothing The weather will still be warm during the day even though you won’t be travelling in the height of summer. Bring long sleeved tops and trousers for visiting religious sites and comfortable shoes.
