TURKEY TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
Join other solo travellers on this incredible 10-day Turkish adventure and discover the very best highlights this fascinating country has to offer! We’ll start our journey in opulent Istanbul, a city of spires, delicious cuisine and more mosques than you can shake a stick at. From here we’ll head south, to Çanakkale and then on to the Ancient Greek city of Pergamon, a stunning example of Turkey’s impressive archaeological sites. After a night on the coast in Kusadasi, we’ll explore more ancient ruins at the City of Ephesus and Hierapolis, eventually rewarding our day of sightseeing with a relaxing dip in Pamakkule’s beautiful thermal springs. Travelling further east to the city of Konya, we’ll explore an ancient hotel used by traders and travellers on the Silk Road, before reaching the breath-taking region of Cappadocia, an undoubted highlight of this trip. We’ll have a couple of days to discover the fascinating landscape here, scattered with cave houses and fairy chimneys, before heading back to Istanbul for our final night, and a sunset cruise on the Bosphorus River – what better way to end this wonderful adventure through Turkey.

Day 1 – Arrive Istanbul
Today is an arrival day so there are no planned activities, you will have the day at your leisure. A dinner will be arranged for the evening so that you can get to know your fellow travellers! Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 2 – Istanbul City Tour
After breakfast we will begin our sightseeing tour of Istanbul which will include Istanbul’s City Walls, the stunning Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia, the Hippodrome of Constantinople, the Topkapi Palace and the Imperial Palace. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 3 – Istanbul / Canakkale
After breakfast we will be departing Istanbul and heading to Canakkale, crossing the second strategic waterway into Asia; the Dardanelles. When we arrive, we’ll get checked into our new hotel and head out for some lunch and an orientation tour of this exciting city. We’ll also visit the Trojan Horse of Canakkale. Overnight in Canakkale. (Driving Time: 6-hours)
Day 4 – Canakkale / Pergamon / Kusadasi
After breakfast we will check-out of our hotel in Canakkale and travel south to Bergama which is home to one of Turkey’s most impressive archaeological sites. Here you will see the stunning ruins from the Ancient Greek city of Pergamon and learn about the areas interesting history. We’ll continue our journey further south along the coastline to Kusadasi – feast your eyes on the beautiful Agean Sea and some of Greece and Turkey’s famous islands. Overnight in Kusadasi. (Driving Time: 6-hours)
Day 5 – Kusadasi / Pamukkale
Today we will begin an exciting day of sightseeing, covering lots of historic sites as well as a chance to relax in some beautiful thermal springs. We’ll start at the Ancient City of Ephesus, one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman cities, famed for its location to the nearby Temple of Artemis, one of the Ancient World’s Seven Wonders. We’ll then head to the Isa Bey Mosque before travelling east towards Pamukkale. When we arrive, we’ll visit the ancient city of Hierapolis, built upon hot springs, for which this area is famous. The ‘Cotton Castle’ is a true natural wonder of the area; a giant waterfall with stalactites and natural pools. Overnight in Pamukkale. (Driving Time: 3-hours)
Day 6 – Pamukkale / Konya
After breakfast, we’ll be travelling further east to the compelling city of Konya, stopping on the way to visit an Ancient Caravanserai, a ‘hotel’ for ancient traders and travellers of the silk road. When we arrive in Konya, you will be given a short orientation tour of the city and then we’ll head to the Mevlana Museum, also the mausoleum of Jalal ad-Din Muhammed Rumi, to learn about the history of the Whirling Dervish. Overnight in Konya. (Driving Time: 5-hours)
Day 7 – Konya / Cappadocia
Today we will be travelling to the beautiful region of Cappadocia, known for its ancient cave houses and fairy chimneys. Upon arrival, we will begin our sightseeing of this fascinating area. Overnight in Cappadocia. (Driving Time: 3-hours)
Day 8 – Cappadocia Free Day
Optional early morning hot-air ballooning over the stunning Cappadocia landscape. The rest of the day will be spent at your leisure. Overnight in Cappadocia.
Day 9 – Cappadocia / Istanbul
After breakfast we will be checking out of our hotel in Cappadocia and heading to the airport for flights back to Istanbul. When we arrive, we’ll visit the Spice Market and then head out for a sunset cruise along the Bosphorus River. Here you will be able to soak in the sights and sounds of Turkey’s Asian and European sectors as you cruise along the beating heart of Istanbul. Dinner will be arranged for your last night in Istanbul.
Day 10 – Depart Istanbul
Depending on your flight schedule you may have some free time today to discover more of this intriguing city.

- Up to eight weeks before departure, a place can be reserved on payment of a deposit of £150.00, after this date it would be the full amount of the trip.

- International flights into and out of Turkey are not included in the cost of the tour and will need to be organised separately. Please get in touch for recommended flights, and do not book anything until we give the go-ahead.

Hosts One of our local guides will be your main point of contact throughout this trip. They will meet you on your first day and stay with you throughout your tour.
Clothing The weather will be hot in the day so make sure you pack plenty of light, loose-fitting clothes. It gets chillier in the evenings, so layers are a good idea. You will also need comfortable trainers or walking shoes. You will need to dress moderately when visiting religious sites, and women will need to full cover themselves when entering mosques.
Health Please seek medical advice from your local GP or travel nurse a minimum of 8 weeks before departure and make sure your vaccinations are up to date. Remember that your travel insurance may not cover you if you do not have up-to-date vaccinations. This will also allow time for you to have any inoculations that you may require.
